Happy New Year (Are You Ready?)

Beth M.Levine, OwnerThis is my favorite time of year. It’s truly rewarding to sit down with clients and brainstorm all the ways in which they can use promotional merchandise and gifts to get through to customers, prospects, employees and special business associates.

Even if your first event, trade show, direct-mail campaign or recruiting fair isn’t for a few months, it makes sense for us to talk soon. Planning ahead avoids rush fees, expedited shipping costs, mistakes and headaches.

Call me at 516-935-0553 or send me an e-mail when you’re ready to talk about your calendar and budget. I’m here to help, and look forward to helping you get a jump start on your promotional marketing activities for 2008.

Going Green!

Last fall Multi Media Promotions was asked to help Friends Academy, a private Quaker K-12 school, to develop a collection of eco-friendly products they could sell in the school’s bookstore and at its Fall Fair. The target audience included students, the local community and faculty. We focused on finding reusable products or products manufactured from recycled materials (or both) that would be needed or useful at school or home.

The school selected green rulers made out of recycled currency; green recycled travel mugs; and green polycarbonate bottles, which eliminates the need for bottled water since they are reusable. We also produced containers for carrying cleaning suppliers – made of recycled post-industrial materials, of course – and green non-woven totes large enough to tote school books year round.

The overall response was so positive the school plans to carry their “green” project into the spring and incorporate more eco-friendly ideas for their plant sale and Mother’s Day.

Looking to learn more about going green? Call us at 516-935-0553 or send us an e-mail and ask for a copy of our new Special Report – Harness the Power of Eco-Friendly Promotions. We’re happy to e-mail or mail it to you.

Promoting To Seniors – Turning Gray Into Gold

The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that the number of Americans age 55-plus will exceed 75 million by 2010. Engaging seniors and earning their trust are essential to your success as their service provider, product seller or employer. There are many ways you can reach out to them through imprinted gifts and incentives that build relationships.

Employee Gifts. During the last 20 years, the percentage of both men and women over 60 who are remaining in the workforce has been increasing – so be certain to consider your older employees when planning human resource campaigns. For example, day planners and desk calendars with large print are a good option. Pocket magnifiers keep the bottom line as well as fine print in focus. And the PenAgain™, an ergonomically designed instrument, is known to alleviate stresses normally observed with a standard pen and may help symptoms of arthritis.

Internet promotion. According to the Pew Internet Study, there are 4 million seniors actively and “heavily” going online. Consider reaching this audience with a promotion that makes online time more productive and easier. Mouse pads imprinted with large print can list web site information. Or, appeal to a grandparent’s pride by gifting a promotional mouse pad with a photo slot for pictures of smiling grandkids.

Fitness rocks on. Today’s Senior magazine reports that 16 million people over the age of 50 work out at least three times a week. Help keep them on track by using promotional pedometers as an outreach tool. Sponsoring senior walk-a-thons offers you a chance to speak to this audience while a useful remembrance from the event ensures longevity of message. Small hand-weights can be given out to seniors opening retirement accounts with a note about a financial company’s ability to keep the recipients “financially strong.”

Helpful tools. Seniors appreciate items that make getting older a little easier. Grocery stores and pharmacies can distribute promotional bag-handles that hold several shopping bags at once while more evenly distributing the weight and cushioning the grip. The classic rubber jar opener is also valued, as are pill cutters and lightweight promotional reading glasses.

There are thousands of options from a growing collection of senior-specific promotional products. Send us an e-mail or give us a call at 516-935-0553 to begin turning this gray demographic into gold for your business!

Interactive Trade Show Promos

The best trade show promotions don’t just blanket pre-registered attendees with a postcard sporting the exhibitor’s logo. Instead, they draw the right prospects into a booth and entice them to linger and learn more about a firm’s products/services. That’s what we have in mind for you – an interactive trade show promotion that will keep your audience involved and interested. Here are three ideas:

1. Offer a little good-humor stress relief. Schedule a local comedian to perform at certain times at your booth. Have him/her tie the industry or services being represented into the jokes. Send a pre-show mailing with “Laffy Taffy” to announce the appearance, inviting attendees to stop by the booth to receive “a few laughs, some cost-saving lessons and a fun imprinted gift.” Or have a caricature artist at your booth and provide imprinted frames for those booth visitors who have their drawings done.

2. Highlight the results you deliver with an “on-target” trade-show promo. Pre-mail a set of imprinted magnetic darts, promising the dart board when the recipient stops by your booth. Involve attendees with a dart-throwing contest and prizes for hitting certain targets. The incentives should relate to your business – perhaps a percentage off an order, a complimentary sample kit, free evaluation, etc. – something that will help you highlight the advantages of your company.

3. Provide a meaningful take-home gift. Consider an advance mailing that offers your first-tier clients special recognition. Tell them you’ve planned a surprise gift for a few top-notch client partners. When they arrive, present them with a plaque for valued patronage and have a professional photographer on hand to document the occasion. Digital images can then be immediately printed and given to your client for his/her office. Make the award all the more meaningful by tying it to a special service or new product exclusive you’ve planned for the “elite few.”

These are just a few ideas. We can take your specific industry and client base as a jumping off point for some fun, interactive ways to create better booth action and results. To learn more, call us at 516-935-0553 or send us an e-mail!
